Halton and St Helens PCT - Drug use insight

Like many urban areas, Halton & St Helens has its share of substance abuse problems, with a high proportion of 16- to 24-year-olds using multiple drugs in the last year.

We worked with Halton & St Helens PCT, using a social marketing approach to better understand the drivers that will change drug use behaviour of young people in the area.

The research was the first conducted on behalf of the organisation. Corporate Culture worked with a core group of eight young people to explore the issue, and these young people then acted as ambassadors – bringing insight from their peer groups to inform the next stage of the project.

This comprehensive body of insight encompasses aspirations, motivations and attitudes towards sources of support, as well as the impacts of other lifestyle factors, such as smoking, drinking and truancy.

The research findings are expected to inform how the PCT shapes its service provision, as well as a range of future potential interventions.
