Merseyside and Cheshire Cancer Network - Early detection and prevention
Merseyside and Cheshire Cancer Network (MCCN) launched a research project to understand which groups were most at risk from six forms of cancer.
Corporate Culture worked with the Network to audit existing information and made use of the Target Group Index, developing a profile for each group and its locations. By analysing the data for individual catchment areas, each PCT could know exactly what cancers and target audiences it needed to prioritise based on who lived in the area.
We then conducted two kinds of primary research: focus groups with healthcare professionals, and working with patients to understand the decision-making process that caused them to visit their GP.
"When it comes to the early detection and prevention of cancer, there are distinct inequalities between Merseyside and North Cheshire and the rest of England. The insight and ongoing support provided by Corporate Culture has been invaluable - not only identifying target groups, but also in discovering what motivates those most at risk."
Paul Mackenzie, Health Inequalities Manager, MCCN
