Amanda Long is passionate about what business can do to lead on sustainability agenda. Amanda is the Chief Executive of the cutting edge sustainable business consultancy Corporate Culture. The agency has a 25 year track record leading on strategy and campaigning for sustainable business and behaviour change. The company works with clients on strategy, research, creativity and capacity building. Corporate Culture is one of very few companies who combine expertise in sustainable business, social marketing and employee engagement.

Long previously developed and co-ordinated Anglian Water’s ground-breaking sustainable business strategy “Love Every Drop”. The strategy puts water at the heart of a whole new way of living with the aim of ensuring a sustainable water supply in the UK’s driest region.

She was recently shortlisted for the ‘Public Service’ category at the 2011 First Women Awards, hosted by the CBI and Real Business magazine recognising trailblazing women. Anglian Water has just been named Regional Company of the Year at the BiTC East of England Awards.

Amanda brings her energy and vision to a number of national and international Advisory Boards including: InContext – Europe-wide sustainability and behavioural change investigation, BiTCs 2050 Vision Project launched in March 2011. She is also the Chair of the Behavioural Change Working Group for the University of Cambridge Programme for Sustainability Leadership Sustainable Water Stewardship Collaboratory.

Amanda also served on the Local Procurement Taskforce, chaired by Zac Goldsmith MP (on behalf of the Conservative Party), to utilise public sector procurement policy to benefit sustainability.

Her career in sustainable business began 15 years ago working with Unilever, and its then large subsidiary Birds Eye Wall’s, on developing and implementing the ground-breaking international sustainable marine fisheries programme – the Marine Stewardship Council initiative – in partnership with WWF. This was then followed with the development of Birds Eye Wall’s sustainable agriculture programme.

As Director of the UK and Ireland National Bureau for the Dutch Hardy Nursery Stock Industry, Amanda co-led on EU-funded national generic campaigns and Corporate Responsibility initiatives, including the development of the Green City initiative.

Additionally, as a non-exec board member of an Acute NHS Trust, Amanda introduced social marketing strategies and as a County Councillor for a remote rural ward in Cumbria, Amanda chaired the Environment and Economic Regeneration Overview Panel and championed sustainability issues in local politics.
