Corporate Responsibility: Environment
Overview
We have signed up to the May Day pledges
We have an environmental policy
Fulfilling the May Day commitments
We have almost halved our energy usage saving around 65,000 KWH
We have almost halved our water usage (saving around 160 cubic metres of water through action like halving the size of our cisterns and water efficient dishwashers)
We are committed to ISO14001 compliance by the end of 2008
Our carbon footprint in Liverpool was 97.5 tonnes in February 2008 (for 2007)
All our waste paper, glass, plastic, tin, card, batteries and toner cartridges are recycled
Less than 3% of our design work was printed on non-recyclable stock
Last year we recycled 1,430 kilos of paper from our Liverpool offices
We also recycle all our IT/electrical equipment and mobile phones
Seeking campaigns to achieve environmental change
We also deliberately seek to find work campaigning on environmental change
We continue to work with WRAP as the only communications company successfully retained after three competitive tenders working to reduce waste and increase recycling
We also work with the EPA in Ireland promoting good environmental practice to SMEs and we work with several local authorities on environmental campaigns
Our part pro bono investment in the Small Business Journey to encourage SME CSR engagement has recently been given a new lease of life by BitC
Next steps
We are setting a 10% reduction target for 2008
We have invited all colleagues to track their own carbon footprint
We are committed to exploring a target of carbon neutrality for colleagues not just at work but also at home
